DIY Editing

Film history:

In 1900, continuity of action across consecutive shots was properly executed by George Albert Smith and James Williamson, also based in Brighton. In that annum Smith made Seen Through the Telescope, containing a main shot of a street scene with a young chap knotting the shoelace and then stroking the foot of his girlfriend, while an old man watches this through a telescope. There is then a jump to a close shot of the hands on her foot shown inside a black circle, and then a cut back to the primary scene.

History of Cine Film

The 1950s was a great period for Philippine cinema, with the appearance of more inventive and mature movies, and considerable enhancement in cinematic methods among producers. The studio system entailed hectic activity in the regional movie industry as lots of films were produced every year and several local talents began to earn fame abroad. The foremost Philippine directors of the age comprised Gerardo de Leon, Gregorio Fernández, and Cirio Santiago.

Throughout the 60s, the studio system in Hollywood stumbled, since many movies were now being produced on site in other countries, or using studio facilities abroad, such as Pinewood in the UK and Cinecittà in Rome. "Hollywood" movies were still generally targeted at a family demographic, and it was typically the more antiquated films that produced the studios' greatest triumphs. Productions like Mary Poppins (1964), and The Sound of Music (1965) were some of the largest money-makers of the 60s. The increase in independent filmmakers and production firms, and the growth in the power of individual players also added to the demise of traditional Hollywood studio production.
